This book was not as good as everyone in this review made it seem. Everyone that read this book must still be in middle school correct? I ask this because who could not see the issues with this book. It was a nice effort but the summary gave the book no justice at all. The book was rushed...the author did not take the time to introduce us to the characters, her children were barely in the picture, and everythung was soo cliché...In The beginning when Mike bumps into Mia then she just throws her number out to him like really???? And why is he already calling Mia Baby?? And giving out hugs to shay? And when did Michelle Rachelle and the other one of Tyge mystery girlfriend come from?? Lets make this a little bit more realistic. The reason why I read African American novels is because I find them to be relatable but this was not the one. Also in the story (this is how I know this book was rushed) Dre, at one point, was next to her in bed and then miraculously in jail??? I am not sure if thay was a typo but yea. When writing a story, you need to be able to target the audience, have a full understanding and relation to them to be able to write a story that could be given to them. Because these people are grown but this book was not written for "grown folks". (Minus the sex scenes). I wished the author took her time with the development of the story, giving a background of each character she introduced, making sure her transitions were great (or at least reasonable) and fully elaborating on one situation at a time. Describe how the day went with Mia and Tyge when he came over to help her paint. What happened? How did they connect? What are her children like? Instead of Shay being her Best Friend since forever, how is she as a friend. Talk about her buisness, what does she do? How does it feel for her to be an African American women owning her own buisness?? Any character introduced within a novel shiuld have a spotlight moment at least ten seconds of background so the audience can have an understanding in who they are? (And I know I am not asking for too much cause other authors have incorporated all of this into their novels flawlessly). Overall, it could have had a better development.

This was a good read. Not exactly what I expected, but still different in a great way. Just enough twists and excitement.
